Why it’s ok to dream big & aim high

A bit of a different post from me today. To be honest, I’d been struggling to come up with a subject for the blog this week. I tend to mostly write about tips for doing your PR campaign and things relating to that. But this week I felt I wanted to do something different, to write something from the heart that would resonate with many of you.

dream big

I almost didn’t do it. I don’t write those kinds of blogs, I told myself. Those heartfelt, ‘big message’ blog posts are the kinds of things I see other, more successful entrepreneurs writing. People who have had major achievements in their lives and can share the secrets of that success with others. People who can talk about how they created their six or seven-figure business.

But then I thought, why can’t I write something big and motivating and from the heart? After all, shouldn’t I be aiming high too? Shouldn’t I be dreaming big?

The fact is, up until recently, I’d been scared to dream big and aim high. I’ll just leave that to the other, more successful business owners who know what they’re doing, I used to think to myself. I’ll just carry on doing what I’m doing.

But a few weeks ago I had an epiphany. I was tired of being satisfied with the status quo. I wanted to shake things up. So I sat down and thought about what  I really, truly wanted to achieve. And I let myself dream. And when I came up with some pretty big goals I didn’t immediately dismiss them. Instead, I thought ‘hell yeah!’ and added them to my vision board. Then I wrote a list of how I was going to achieve my big dream.

I’ve already started taking action.

In the past few weeks I have:

  • Hired a business coach
  • Joined an online mastermind group
  • Started reading wealth consciousness books
  • Worked on my vision board
  • Commissioned a graphic designer to work on a new logo/brand
  • Hired a web developer to update my website
  • Had some professional photos taken that I can use on my website and social media
  • Continued work on a second website as a sideline to my main business
  • Brainstormed ideas for new packages and programmes

The thing I feel most happy about is the fact that I have taken action. By doing so, I’m showing the universe that I’m serious about my big dreams. Plus, the action I have taken so far is bringing me closer to achieving my goals. Which is making the whole thing a lot more real. Which is pretty damn exciting.

So, if you’re dreaming about where you want you business to go, without going all Oprah on you, don’t be scared to dream big. I can feel amazing things ahead and I know it’s because I’ve dared to dream big. So why not give it a go yourself. You’ve literally got nothing to lose.

Ok, cheesy sentimental bit over. Normal service is resumed. Go get ’em tiger.
